Primetime Emmy Awards Fashion

The Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony took place on Sunday in LA. I always like to check out what everyone was wearing at these sorts of things, and wish that I had a beautiful dress like that (and somewhere as equally fabulous to wear it to).

Here are some of my favourites.

Heidi Klum in Alexandre Vauthier, Sofia Vergara in Zuhair Murad and Julianne Hough in Georges Hobieka Couture

Blue seemed to be a theme and I thought the colour of Heidi Klum's dress was so beautiful, a real sea-foam blue. Sofia Vergara's mermaid-esq dress was so glamourous and I loved how Julianne Hough kept her look minimal and let the gorgeous fishtail dress take centre stage. Also loved her 20's style hair waves and slightly smokey eye makeup.

Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra, Hayden Panatierre in Marchesa, Michelle Dockery in Louis Vuitton

One of my almost favourites was Zooey's prom style Reem Acra dress; I thought it suited her style perfectly but I don't think it needed the cut out part on the bust line, I feel like it takes away from the prettiness of the dress but, maybe that was the idea. Marchesa is one of my favourite designers but I feel like this dress was all wrong for Hayden Panettiere. She seems a bit too petite and young for this column style dress and is it just me, but I really want to pull away that blue net and see the gorgeous gold material underneath! And lastly Michelle Dockery. Downton Abbey is my favourite programme and I am so so glad it is back on television, and was so hoping for her to look completely amazing. I feel like this dress has the potential to look incredible, but its creased and doesn't seem to fit her properly. Having said that I do love the midnight blue colour and her makeup.

So there's my view of some of the dresses. What was your favourite? Any of these or someone different?

Review: YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation

I had been wanting to try this foundation  for a while, and only got round to buying it last weekend. Twenty years in the making, it claims to have 'A bold, unique formula to target shadowy areas and define contours. A magic light infused within a weightless fluid. A texture that has no mask-like effect. A formula free of opaque powders that evens the complexion and erases imperfections, enhancing the face’s natural features.'

It comes in a lovely glass bottle with a gold lid and the foundation is dispensed through a pump. I got matched to the shade BD20 Beige Dore, which is a pretty good match. Usually I have the palest shade possible, but the palest shade in this foundation washed me out a bit so I went one up.

This is a really nice, light foundation. Its very easy to apply and blend in; I've found it looks best when I use my fingers instead of a brush. It has a very soft consistency and reminds me of Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation. The finish too is not unlike the Bourjois foundation; its a light to medium coverage, with a dewy finish.

I have relatively clear skin, so can't really comment on how well it would cover imperfections but if you are looking for a heavy coverage this probably isn't the foundation for you. I set it with some transulcent powder and it lasted all day. It looks great in daylight, as it really does have that 'magic light' quality. I have found this really easy to wear, and have had a few compliments when wearing it.Overall, I am really pleased with this foundation and can see myself using it everday! It retails for £28, but I bought mine on one of Debenhams discount days, so I think it was £25 ish. It is expensive, but a lovely luxury item which is well worth it.

Have you tried this foundation yet? What did you think?

Boucle Jacket

I wasn't really in the market for a new jacket/blazer so this buy from H&M was a spur of the moment buy, urged on by my mother. Its a biker style jacket which I've never really had before (prefer classic styles on the whole) but I really liked the material and that it looks a lot more expensive that its £24.99 price tag.

Its a boucle style material in a grey and black colour with some metallic thread running through. I love it although I need to exchange size as H&M sizing is extremely awkward, and my usual size is a bit big on the shoulders.

Up close

I tried to find it online and its in some promo images with Lana Del Ray - I had no idea before as it wasn't promoted in store, just tucked away on the end of the rail. It says its sold out online so fingers crossed my local store will still have some so I can swap sizes. I'm planning on wearing it with skinny jeans and boots for autumn winter. Have you found anything good in H&M lately?
